Black bear takes early morning stroll through high school
A bear breaks into a Montana high school and is spotted strolling down the hallways just as lazily as any freshman. Officials then opened hallway doors to outside and herded the bear out of the east side of the building.
Bozeman Police Department officer Rick Musson said the bear was pushed north into an open field with trees and bushes, where officials lost sight of it. There’s been no reported bear sighting since, he said. In an interview, Principal Kevin Conwell described the animal as being “skittish”, although thankfully not aggressive since staff members and students were nearby, taking videos and photos of the bear.
Students seemed excited about the news, tweeting memes about the new addition to their school. “They were keeping a good, safe distance”, Conwell said. “There’s a wild animal in the building”. Hopefully the bear has found a more habitable spot for itself by now and that its feelings weren’t too hurt by the rejection.
A retired high school government teacher is hiding from the law, caught in a legal limbo between state and tribal courts as she tries to gain custody of her grandsons. “It was a nice, pretty black bear”, he added. The bear was chased outside, but bear’s status is unknown at this time. When bears lose their fear of people, they are known as “nuisance bears”. A pile of bear crap?
