Black Friday Could Overtake Cyber Monday For Online’s Biggest Shopping Day
There have been ten billion-dollar spending days on desktop through Black Friday this year, while last year at this point in the season only Thanksgiving and Black Friday had reached that threshold.
Online shopping surged on Black Friday, particularly mobile orders. Consumers spent $3.34 billion shopping online on Friday, a 21.6 percent increase from the same day past year, according to Adobe Digital Insights, which tracks online retail transactions. More purchases were conducted by mobile phones, accounted for 36 percent of total sales, or $1.2 billion. Adobe will release final figures on Tuesday.
Black Friday sales hit new highs, spurred in large part by online sales.
On Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime members will get early access to a wide range of deals, with free two-day shipping and same day delivery on many assortments.
The report is collated after measuring 80% of all online transactions from the top 100 United States retailers. “With winter weather firmly here in many parts of the USA, we believe sales trends should sequentially improve over the coming weeks in December”.
According to Amazon, as of noon PT today, mobile app orders on Amazon are on pace to surpass app orders compared to Cyber Monday past year.
“I’m looking for at least 30 percent off on higher end items I’m purchasing for my family”, she said.
Over the weekend, shoppers spent more than $5 billion online.
An estimated £1.1bn was spent yesterday as 15 million people rushed to get their hands on a “Cyber Monday” bargain. “More people a week ago said they’d buy on Cyber Monday than Black Friday, but maybe they changed their minds after they saw the deals on offer”.
