Black Lives Matter protest moves to block MSP Airport
In a separate incident, the southbound traffic on the 101 freeway near California city’s airport was blocked by protestors Wednesday.
“Mall of America has a longstanding policy banning political demonstrations and protests on our private property”, the mall said.
Hogan said police made five arrests at the airport.
A revised tally showed a total of 12 arrests at both sites, mostly for trespassing or obstruction of justice.
He says about 100 officers from various agencies responded and that no injuries or property damage were reported.

“There will be no business as usual until we get accountability for our dead, and justice for the living”, the group added. Signs had advised visitors that many shops would be closed temporarily during the early afternoon, when the protests were scheduled.
Though the protest left many travelers angry, the Black Lives Matter group was unapologetic.
Among them were a Starbucks and a Barnes and Noble bookstore.
About 500 protesters briefly gathered at the mall before abruptly walking out while chanting, “What do we want?” Special staff members were stationed at every mall entrance, where they searched guests’ bags. Mall security guards cordoned off parts of a central mall rotunda, and officers from several cities were patrolling inside.
Hennepin County District Court Judge Karen Janisch on Tuesday ruled that three individuals named as defendants in the mall’s lawsuit against organizers of the previous action could not attend the latest protest, but she limited her order to them.
In addition to Minnesota and the San Francisco Bay area, major demonstrations were planned in Chicago, Washington D.C., Chattanooga, and Los Angeles, organizers said.
But the mall said it should be able to prevent protests from occurring on its own property.
Black Lives Matter organizer Kandace Montgomery says she expects hundreds of people at the afternoon protest.
“We just shut down America’s biggest mall, a light rail, the highway and an worldwide airport”, one activist wrote in a tweet that was retweeted by Black Lives Matter’s Minneapolis chapter.
The event would continue the protest of the November 15 shooting death of Jamar Clark, who was killed during a scuffle with police.
