Black Lives Matter protests continue, despite criticism
Hundreds of protestors rallied together last night to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement, and to express their outrage over the recent police shootings of black people across the country.
“I couldn’t disagree more with Lt. Gov. Patrick, and shame on him that he’s doing to Black Lives Matter what we in policing hate that’s being done to us”, Acevedo said.
In a press conference yesterday, El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen told reporters that the shootings in Dallas were “due to their efforts”.
The Black Lives Matter demo was held in Windrush Square, Brixton, named after the ship which brought the first West Indian immigrants to the UK.
The Black Lives Matter movement has emerged in America as a response to the treatment of black people at the hands of law enforcement.
Five police officers were killed, and seven more were injured along with two civilians in Thursday’s shooting, which happened during a protest over the deaths of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.
