In Black Mass Johnny Depp plays the true-life Irish crime lord Whitey Bulger who collaborates with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to bring down his rivals during the 1970’s. This second trailer centers on the FBI’s dawning realization of precisely how unsafe Bulger is and their hand in creating him.

The film follows the criminal career of infamous mobster Whitey Bulger (Depp). Following a string of too many of his violent actions, he becomes an FBI informant for 30 years in order to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.’.

Despite the heavy talent, the central attraction remains Johnny Depp‘s Bulger.

Directed by Scott Cooper, the crime drama also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard, Rory Cochrane, Adam Scott, Dakota Johnson, and Corey Stoll. The film is based on the book by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill, with the adapted screenplay by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth. Expect “Black Mass” to hit theaters on September 18.

Set to make its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, “Black Mass” looks like it could be a return to form for Depp as a heavyweight dramatic actor after critical and commercial disappointments like “Mortdecai” and “Transcendence”.
