Blackadder 5 ‘on the cards’

Sir Tony Robinson has said he thinks a new series of classic BBC comedy “Blackadder” is on the cards, but only if they can meant the price of Hugh Laurie. “It’s a big danger”. “He’s a huge star now – or so he’d like to think”.
But Laurie is believed to have received about $500,000 an episode for the show House (2004-12) when it was at its peak, starring as the unconventional and misanthropic medical genius Dr Gregory House.
The hospital drama, loosely based on Sherlock Holmes, saw him adopt a convincing American accent to play the curmudgeonly but brilliant medic at a hospital in Baltimore.
Blackadder, played by the legend that is Rowan Atkinson, was the quick-witted, often unlucky, sarcastic and cruel character who spent his days scheming, plotting and constantly putting his man servant, Baldrick, down.
The show featured the likes of Robinson, Laurie, Rowan Atkinson and Tim McInnerny.
The last Blackadder series debuted on the BBC in 1989 and a one-off special episode, dubbed Blackadder Back & Forth was, was made for the Millennium Dome in 1999. Each series was set in a different historical period, from Medieval England to the First World War, and it also starred Stephen Fry, Ben Elton and the late Rik Mayall.
