Blackadder star’s wife granted “quickie” divorce after he leaves her for actress half his age
After 24 years of marriage, Mr Bean comedian Rowan Atkinson was divorced in record time, worldwide media report. District Judge Stephen Alderson divorced the pair on the grounds that their marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and that she would find it “intolerable” to live with him.
A source told The Sun earlier on Tuesday (November 10th): “Sunetra was deeply upset to be replaced by such a younger woman”.
Divorce papers made public did not give any details relating to the unreasonable behaviour ground.
The couple were building an £11 million home in Oxfordshire when they split and Sunetra has since moved to a £21 million London mansion while Rowan has a £4 million base in the city.
Atkinson and his wife were granted a decree nisi by a District Judge at the Central Family Court in a short hearing lasting less than a minute.
He is presently dating 32-year-old comedian Louise Ford – who appears in Sky TV sitcom Chickens.
The couple have been married for 24 years and have two children. He made his name doing distinctive stand-up comedy and starring in the sketch show “Not the Nine O’Clock News”, before finding his most famous roles in “Mr. Bean” and “Blackadder”.
