Blackhawks release Stadium Series jersey
TCF Bank Stadium is on the campus of the University of Minnesota, and is home to the Gophers football team and the temporary home of the Minnesota Vikings while their new stadium is under construction.
The Blackhawks jersey is white with the Blackhawks modern primary logo on the chest, a black shoulder yoke with those giant player numbers now moved up to the shoulders. Both jerseys use the same template as the older Stadium Series uniforms in that they are futuristic.
After the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks revealed their 2016 National Hockey League Stadium Series jerseys this week, the Minnesota Wild followed suit on Tuesday.
The black shoulder’s are supposed to represent the nickname “City of Big Shoulders” given to Chicago by Carl Sandburg. The logos, which are featured on the sleeves instead of the shoulders, are intended as an homage to the team’s jerseys from the 1950’s. Speaking of which, that patch looks to be absent on the Blackhawks jersey. Huh.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild have unveiled their Stadium Series sweaters and they’re nothing spectacular. Chances are they could cost you an arm or a leg, but one of these bad boys would surely make a nice holiday gift for your favorite Blackhawks fan.
