Blake Griffin, Nuggets coach’s heated exchange spills over to Denver bench
Six Clippers finished in double-figures, including all five starters, as they were finally able to snap a three-game losing skid and get a game they had to have. At one point, Blake Griffin got so mad at all the fouls, he said something to Denver coach Mike Malone and got a technical foul. “I don’t feel like we’ve had the energy and focus that we need to have”, Snyder told reporters.
“We just have to keep on working”. “And hopefully a win will come soon”. The Clippers are a minus-1.4 for the season in fourth quarters, a mark that is worse than their lottery-bound neighbours, the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact it turned out to be the fouling that kept Griffin and Malone jawing at each other throughout the game. Redick. And there’s also the Paul Pierce DNP-Old thing, and the Wesley Johnson/Lance Stephenson failures thus far.
“Gallinari is their go-to guy, and Wes gave him some trouble with his length”, said DeAndre Jordan.
Jordan is a poor free throw shooter, and he made just 12 of 25 in the game.
In order to do just that – improve – they must first realize why they were so successful to start out the season and why they have been struggling as of late.
Malone’s heated exchange with Griffin led to another incident that occurred on the Nuggets bench.
Meanwhile, rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay pointed toward effort. When asked about the incident, Malone echoed that there is no issue at all between the two. Johnson said he was trying to fit in more than play his game back in September. “And I think obviously wining is a great cure for anybody, like it was for [the Clippers]tonight”.
“It’s just both of us being competitors”. It probably was my fault, I could have been doing a lot more.
Smith isn’t anything close to what Blake Griffin is, but if Doc wants the efficient and productive Griffin he got at the beginning of the season, he has to get him rest. He finished with 15 points.
The way the team was playing, why not use them to describe how the team was feeling? “At least Gallo was getting to the foul line”. With this game being played in Oracle and history being on the line, this game could get downright ugly. With three-plus minutes left, Griffin said something to Malone while Jordan took his free throws. “But unfortunately, our shooting woes continue”.
Their three-point field goal percentage may have risen over 6% from where it was after their 4-1 start, but their field goal percentage has dropped almost 4% over the last seven games. “My mindset coming into the game was to my strengths and that led to second-chance points”.
Gallinari did most of the heavy lifting with his scoring but in my mind tonight’s most valuable player for the Nuggets was Gary Harris.
Although the start does come surprising, the Clippers can still bounce back.
During the offseason, the Los Angeles Clippers were one of the busiest teams in the National Basketball Association. Lauvergne ran on the court for the first time since leaving that practice on Tuesday and said he felt very good.
If they do, they’ll have Tuesday’s third quarter to thank.
