Blake Griffin sits out Clippers’ game in Brooklyn to rest
First, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan try to keep an eye on him, but he flails and breaks away from them. Sunday’s 122-105 home loss to the Sacramento Kings marked the sixth time during the slide that Brooklyn lost by at least 17 points.
The loss was the Clippers’ third in a row after starting the season with 14 wins in 16 games.
The Clippers had both of their rookies in the locker room for the first time in weeks with Brice Johnson and Diamond Stone in Brooklyn.
In a span of 2:10, Kilpatrick scored 12 straight Brooklyn points to get the game from 94-87 to 99-99 with 3:37 remaining on an 18-footer.
Rivers hinted earlier in the day Tuesday at shootaround that some of his regulars could get nights off when they need to as the season progresses, mentioning the plan in place without going into details of what that’ll mean on a nightly basis.
Just a little over a month into the season this will be the second and third time these team play each other.
According to Clippers Coach Doc Rivers, Griffin was OK after the power forward admitted that he had been hit in the right calf in the game against Detroit and that it had bothered him against Indiana. Rivers was ejected from the game after receiving a technical and arguing that.
Rivers said he still doesn’t expect Johnson back anytime soon.
“I clearly didn’t, I’m not smart enough to use biometrics”, Rivers said.
“I don’t think that an official that has nothing to do with the play should be giving someone a tech”.
“I think lack of rest, lack of practice attributed to it, but I think lack of concentration is also a factor”.
But when Ken Mauer comes in from across the court to call a technical, Rivers loses his shit. The door was left open, and Jamal Crawford ripped that door off it’s hinges with a game tying three.
In the first half, the Nets encountered the same problems that have persisted throughout their losing streak as they fell behind by a 65-53 margin at halftime.
Thirty-one of Kilpatrick’s points came in the final quarter and overtimes.
Chris Paul drilled a corner three with 1.8 seconds remaining after beautifully faking out Trevor Booker, who flew by the Clippers point guard. Actually, she said, “You’re right” or whatever, ‘let’s walk back.’ We were talking.

Down the stretch, the two teams traded shots, but the Clippers’ inability to guard players like Kilpatrick, Trevor Booker and Joe Harris ultimately cost them.
