Blast at Shuja Khanzada’s political office kills three
Government TV channel reported that Punjab’s provincial minister Shuja Khanzada has been injured during blast at his political office.
“Between 20 to 25 people were trapped under the rubble”.
According to details, a blast took place outside the office of Shuja Khanzada due to which the roof of the office came crashing down due to the impact of the blast.
The nature of the blast is not yet known, though some witnesses have claimed that a suicide bomber carried out the attack.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Deeba Shahnaz confirmed that five bodies have been recovered from the rubble of the building. “Police personnel, the bomb disposal squad and some rescue workers had reached the spot to start a rescue operation”, eyewitness said. Further, Khanzada’s nephew has appealed to Pakistan Army to help with rescue efforts.
The Minister was listening to complaints and problems of the people of his constituency when the blast occurred.
Khanzada was given charge of the provincial home department in October 2014.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident.
He also directed for provision of helicopter from the Interior Ministry for shifting the injured on emergency basis.
