Blast near subway station in İstanbul, at least one injured
An explosion near a subway station in Istanbul has injured at least one person, a Turkish official said.
Grainy CCTV footage showed a large flash of light on the overpass followed by what appeared to be burning embers showering to the ground as cars drove below. Bayrampasa is a residential and industrial area on the European side of Istanbul.
Bomb disposal units have been sent to the site of the explosion, Yeni Safak newspaper reported on its website.
Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin said at least one person was slightly injured. Local news media reported the explosion was due to a power transformer.
The Dogan news agency said it was a hand-made cluster bomb. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was in the vehicle at the time of the explosion.
An explosion took place near a subway station in İstanbul’s central Bayrampaşa neighborhood on Tuesday. There are conflicting reports of a bomb threat the Haghani station.
