Blatter, Platini suspended from soccer by FIFA’s ethics body
He did not attend the meeting of the UEFA executive committee on Thursday and has cancelled several official trips.
UEFA will host an emergency meeting in Nyon, Switzerland, on October 15 to discuss the situation.
UEFA have however stated that Platini will not perform his full duties for the time being.
Blatter, who went on to win his fifth term as president was not among those charged in the United States indictments. But If it should happen, it will happen.
A later statement confirmed Platini would not conduct any official business with UEFA, avoiding any possible ethics sanctions that may have been handed down had Platini broken the ban. I am more determined than ever to defend myself before the relevant judicial bodies.
The suspension comes less than two weeks after Swiss attorneys opened a criminal investigation against Blatter. Michel Platini might never even get there.

The 60-year-old Frenchman claims: “The allegations are astonishingly vague”.
In rare comments to journalists, Hayatou has always said he has a “clear conscience” about his dealings in worldwide sport.
Platini has been the favourite to succeed Blatter as president next year.
“I will serve only on an interim basis”, Hayatou said in a statement.
Issa Hayatou head of the Confederation of African Football, a Blatter ally, was put in charge of the multi-billion dollar body. Those worries subsided when Swiss authorities launched an investigation into the beleaguered leader.
The committee called for “a very rapid final decision” in the case.
Yesterday, former France global footballer Platini issued a statement questioning how the information had been made public.
“That’s why we said in our statement that we are awaiting the results of the investigation – we need to see the evidence”.
