Blizzard Job Posting Hints at New Diablo Game
Diablo III, which was launched four years ago, is starting to show its age, and fans are already looking forward to when Blizzard will be releasing the next chapter of the long-running demon-slaying franchise. In turn, this means that by the time Diablo 4 is out, Diablo 3 could be nearing a decade in age- which would be in keeping with the time gaps separating two installments of this series so far.
The game director job is just one of the many openings for the new unannounced Diablo project.
Even so, the presence of the words “unannounced project” in the listing is undeniably intriguing.
The responsibilities and requirements section provide more clues that this is Diablo 4.
Previous year there were rumors that Blizzard could be considering a new Diablo 3 expansion.
Blizzard’s looking for someone who has the chops to “lead the Diablo series into the future”.
These job listings include a Software Engineer, Senior Concept Artist, Senior Character Artist, Senior VFX Artist, Senior Animator, Animator, and a Game Director. Interesting times for the Diablo community.
Earlier this month, Jay Wilson, the former game director for Diablo 3, also left Blizzard to pursue his “original passion, writing”.
Does this mean a new Diablo game is in the works or in the planning stages? When Brevik appeared at this March’s Game Developers Conference to speak about Diablo 1’s creation, he didn’t burn any bridges or say anything spiteful about his Blizzard days.
At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, there is some circumstantial “evidence” that suggests that the project may be a new Diablo game of some kind.
