Blizzard Warnings, Wind Advisories issued for the Area
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the St. Cloud area while issuing the more serious blizzard and winter storm warnings for areas southwest of St. Cloud. Along with the winds, less than an inch of snow could fall in the Sioux Falls area.
Intermittent snow showers will combine with the strong winds in eastern South Dakota by Sunday evening, causing blowing snow and low visibility in the area.
A blizzard watch has been put in place west from Albert Lea in southern Minnesota north to Alexandria in Douglas County.
Strong winds return to Oklahoma Sunday and Monday.
Conditions in the Twin Cities won’t be as bad, but there will be some flurries of snow that starts accumulating Sunday afternoon, with Accuweather saying those heading to Super Bowl parties should take care as roads could be “slick”.
That combined with the possibility of 2 inches of snow could create blizzard conditions.
Looking further ahead, the weather service says temperatures are going to drop into the teens, with overnight lows in the single digits.
Northeast winds of 30-40 miles per hour with gusts to 65 miles per hour are forecast, with visibility of a quarter-mile or less at times.
