Blood drive donors remember 9/11
The American Red Cross is encouraging communities to prepare for emergencies by giving blood.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides global humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families.
“But, someone needs blood every two seconds”.
Locally, residents can give blood later this month at two local businesses.
We’re teaming up with the Red Cross and several fire departments for the Roll Up Your Sleeve and Remember Blood Drive on Friday, September 11th.
Walk-ins are welcome, but Wilson suggested potential donors call the Red Cross first to make an appointment.
“I donate to help others that needed blood like her”, Slattery said in a press release. One blood donation can help save up to three lives. “That means nearly everyone knows someone who is alive because of a blood transfusion”.
You can donate blood on September 28th from 830am to 215pm at the Big Rapids High School.
New Boston’s blood drive will be from 10 a.m.to 3:45 p.m. September 23 at SET Enterprises, 36211 S. Huron Road.
For more information or to make an specific appointment to donate, residents can download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
