Bo Ryan a finalist for Naismith Hall of Fame
The Class of 2016 will be announced April 4 at the Final Four in Houston. “From the players and the coaches, to my mentors and everyone along my journey from Iron Mountain to Northern Michigan to Ishpeming High School and finally to Michigan State, my home for the last 33 years, they’ve all played a giant part in my success, and needless to say, I wouldn’t be here without them”.
In terms of the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson are locks. The head coach has been a nominee for the Hall of Fame ballot the past four years, with this marking the first time she has been named a finalist. He’s taken the Spartans to 18 consecutive NCAA tournaments and earned national coach of the year honors eight times.
If inducted, Sutton would be the second former Arkansas coach in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, joining Nolan Richardson, who was inducted in 2014.
He never missed an NCAA tournament with UW, and his teams won four Big Ten Conference regular-season titles and three Big Ten tournament crowns while never finishing lower than fourth in the league. He retired in December after compiling a 747-233 record in 32 years as a college head coach, including 364-130 with the Badgers. His career coaching record is 514-204.
BO RYAN – A native of Chester, Pennsylvania, Ryan was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year four times (2002, 2003, 2013, 2015) while coaching at University of Wisconsin.
