Body discovered in Rotorua hot pools
A body has reportedly been found in a hot pool at Kuirau Park in central Rotorua.
A large section of the park, opposite Rotorua Hospital, has been taped off with police standing guard inside the cordons.
Emergency services work to recover what the believe is a body a Kuirau Park in Rotorua.
The death is being treated as unexplained with police beginning to investigate who the person is, and how they ended up in the hot pool.
The park scene has been blessed and the park has now re-opened.
The area has been cordoned off and police, including search and rescue staff, are liaising with Fire and Rotorua Lakes Council to formulate a recovery plan.
Mr Horne said it would be done “in such a way that we can keep the dignity of the person in there”.
Fire crews and police officers are now packing up to leave the scene. We are not sure what is it yet and are having a look.

A police spokesperson could not confirm what the suspicious object is, but did confirm that investigations are ongoing.
In 2010 a 10-year-old Hamilton boy died after falling into a boiling mud pool at the park.
She was submerged up to her neck in the 97 degree Celsius mudpool.
