Body found near site of B.C. whale-watching boat sinking
The coroner said surfers found Pillay’s body on the beach of Vargas Island on Wednesday evening.
Authorities have recovered a body from the waters near the site of last month’s sinking of a whale-watching boat in British Columbia.
The identities of the five others killed were confirmed shortly after the October 25 incident.
There is no confirmation yet if the body found is that of the missing Australian man.
Australian Raveshan Pillay, 27, has been missing since the Leviathan II capsized.
A sixth person, Raveshan Pillay, was still missing and his filed turned over to the RCMP.
The coroner says it is too early to say whether the remains that have been found are linked to the capsized boat.
The investigation into what caused the boat to capsize continues.
The Coroners Service said after the accident that the victims were from Britain and ranged in age from 18 to 76.
The Transportation Safety Board says the boat sank after being hit by a wave while all the passengers were clustered on one side.
