Body of 1 missing swimmer recovered in Md
Calvert County Sheriff’s Office detectives are on the scene with Natural Resources Police continuing the investigation.
Capt. Todd M. Ireland said it was “presumed” that Daniel Jason Brown, 37, of Lusby, and his brother Douglas Howell Brown, 39, of Mechanicsville, died due to accidental drowning. (The current in the area of Cove Point is significant.). The two brothers were swimming with a juvenile who was able to make it to shore safely.
The two swimmers who went missing Friday evening drowned off of Cove Point beach in Lusby, Md., as reported by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said one of the men weighs 280 pounds and has tattoos. The other missing swimmer has long gray hair and was wearing black and blue swim trunks.
Authorities said the names of the men are being withheld until a next of kin is notified.
A Coast Guard boat crew from St. Inigoes station was searching for the men, along with Calvert County fire and police officials.
A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, is also searching for the missing men.
