The body of a missing Army veteran was found covered with several pieces of drywall in the Baden neighborhood Thursday morning.
Montague and a coworker, who were working as subcontractors on asbestos abatement, said they made the discovery after they smelled a foul odor previous days.
Authorities say he went to meet someone about a auto for sale on Craigslist and was shot.
Polk’s body was found decomposing on the 8000 block of Frederick St.in St. Louis, Missouri. An X-ray revealed that Polk suffered a gunshot wound.
St. Louis Police put out an alert on Wednesday asking FOX 2 to air his photo and information surrounding his disappearance.
“It really did freak me out because we never knew when we removed that drywall that we would find a dead body there, ” worker Jerry Montaque told KTVI.
“It looks like he had been dragged there because there was a blood trail”, Parker said, adding that the body was facedown. “I knew it was him”.
Along the street where Polk’s body was found, Parker said he saw seven or eight shell casings.
She said her grandson, who she called Bobby, was “a sweet boy”. “I couldn’t believe it. It was more hurtful than anything, seeing someone’s lifeless body lying there”. An autopsy is planned for Friday.
