Bogut could join Simmons in Philadelphia for Aussie NBL double
Of course, the Sacramento Kings trading DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans highlighted this year’s moves, and it is still a bit shocking to see that Cousins was finally traded. While he did overcome the surgery, the newest Mav is no stranger to injuries as just this season he missed the beginning part of year with an inflamed pica right on top of his knee.
If the 76ers had truly landed a first in return for Noel, this trade would look better for them.
While Noel’s injuries may be of concern for Maverick’s fans, the same problem appeared when the Dallas Mavericks brought in Tyson Chandler. If the Sixers are nearly twice as good without him, and they could have gotten 50 cents on the dollar back for him – draft picks, veteran shooters with hefty contracts, other disgruntled big men they can swap in the future – then wouldn’t that add up to almost full value? He was drafted to a Sixers team with only nebulous plans for actual roster construction, only to be joined by two top-three picks at his best position in subsequent drafts. Noel should also pair nicely with Harrison Barnes, allowing the Mavs to have two solid young players to continue to build around into the future.
After acquiring Hibbert from the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month, the Bucks turned around and traded him to the Nuggets.
He added that it was “hard for us” to give up Justin Anderson, whom he called “the critical piece”.
Joel Embiid and his teammates said goodbye to Noel after Thursday’s practice.
Noel averaged 10.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in his first two seasons in Philadelphia while watching the Sixers go 18-64 as a rookie and 10-72 last season.
This move tells us two important things.
Expectations were naturally high going into Anderson’s sophomore season, but like Nelson said “it hasn’t been a ideal year for Justin”. That dynamic is going to be interesting to watch in the coming seasons, assuming both are Mavericks long-term.
But was it time to give up on the young forward? Anderson has also shown promise on the defensive end and perhaps if he gets more of an opportunity in Philadelphia, he could really develop as a player.
In exchange, Dallas picks up forward Nerlens Noel from the 76ers, according to ESPN.
“It is something a lot of players in the National Basketball Association have to deal with, trade rumors”, he said. The Mavericks see the Noel trade as one that helps them in the short term. He was mostly unavailable at the most important times during his Warriors tenure. Will he take the next step in his career and haunt Dallas like the ghost of Jae Crowder?
Bogut has played in just 10 games since December 5 as he’s battled a hamstring injury.
“We just lost a great friend, a great teammate, and a great player. myself and everybody, we’re all happy for Nerlens because he’s going to a great situation for him”.
