Boil advisory lifted: Water deemed safe in New Orleans
The boil advisory was issued as a precaution after the water was turned back on Tuesday morning.
Water samples were taken for testing from about 90 sites around the city.
“Please review and follow the Louisiana Office of Public Health’s Recommendations for Boil-Water Advisories listed on our website at http://new.dhh.louisiana.gov/assets/oph/Center-PHCH/Center-CH/infectious-epi/EpiManual/BoilWaterAdvisory.pdf or www.swbno.org to ensure that all tap water is properly disinfected before use”.
Customers on the Westbank of the city are not affected and do not need to boil their water. It takes about 24 hours to complete the tests.
“Our goal in this building program that we’re doing is to make ourselves as self-sufficient and reliant as we possibly can”, Grant said. If you have any questions about boil water advisory, you can call 504-529-2837.
The Sewerage and Water Board did not provide a response to Entergy’s statement. Earlier in the year, a smaller boil-water advisory on the West Bank caused by a ruptured water main also drew criticism because of the long delay in notifying residents. The one-minute boil time begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
“I’m definitely glad we let people know what’s going on, but there’s definitely frustration out there”, Williams said.
