Bojangles’ Customer Orders Fried Chicken, Receives $4,500 Instead
James “JJ” Minor ordered his dinner from Bojangles and drove round to pick up his food from the collection window. And when he spoke with management, he said they told him, in a negative tone, that had he not returned the money they would have called police.
According to WTVR, James Minor was waiting in a Bojangles drive-thru for fresh chicken Friday after sending back a previous order. Minor said he was stunned by the attitude he faced from the manager.
“When I opened the box up – the Bojangles chicken box – there was probably close to $4,500 in cash and also SunTrust deposit slips”, he told WTVR.
Minor sent a video of all the money and deposit slips to the television station right after the discovery.
“I’m honest. I know what integrity is”. “I deserve respect, an apologetic letter from the Bojangles’ company, and probably a cash reward”, Minor said.
At first he thought either someone was trying to set him up or someone in the store was trying to steal money.
“The manager came and I said, ‘Can you please tell me as a customer why is this money in a Bojangles box?”
“We are, of course, very thankful to Mr. Minor for bringing the incident to our attention and returning the money to us”.
Minor said he was offered another meal for the trouble, but wasn’t entirely satisfied. He then tried calling a district manager, who he says hung up on him, before getting through to the chain’s corporate headquarters.
“What is this?’ And so the manager says, ‘If you would’ve drove off, we would’ve called the authorities on you.'”. Although he was later offered a $100 gift certificate, he told CBS 6 that he was not interested.
The company said that they “are reviewing some of our internal procedures to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again”. “What is a $100 dollar gift certificate when you’re bringing in $4500?”
