Bolt to play for Manchester United?
Bolt looked set to head into retirement with a record-equaling 15th IAAF World Championships medal but pulled up with an apparent hamstring injury and failed to finish the final leg of the race.
Gatlin’s victory in the 100m final, edging out U.S. teammate Christian Coleman into silver, saw the American sprinter consign Usain Bolt to a third-place finish in the Jamaican’s final competitive 100m race. They were holding us too long in the Call Room.
Usain Bolt insists he will not go back on his decision to retire after a painful end to his glittering athletics career, and says he has no regrets about racing for one more year following his success at Rio 2016. Bolt is turning 31-years-old in August and has repeatedly said that he is done after this and won’t be going to any more world championships.
“It was cold and there was 40 minutes and two medal presentations before our run”. And we can’t wait… It was just insane and to see a true legend of the sport to go down like that, and we as Jamaicans and the world don’t like to see that. But it was ridiculous.
Sprint legend Usain Bolt had arguably the hardest time of his glittering career at the World Athletics Championships being held in London.
Kevin Jones, a doctor with the Jamaican team, said his preliminary diagnosis was that Bolt had suffered an acute muscle cramp in his left hamstring, although Jones couldn’t rule out the possibility of a muscle tear.
“He’s still the man, and this is farewell so we take our hat off to him, hope he gets well soon”. “It gave me everything I had”, he said, suggesting that he would like to work with young talent.
Farah won double Olympic gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m in London in 2012 while he has also won six world titles and five European crowns. “Muhammad Ali lost his last fight as well”, Bolt told his final and packed news conference, referring to the American boxing icon who like he transcended his sport. The world’s fastest man, with the help of his teammates’ shoulders, finished the last 30 meters.
