Bomb scare grounds Polish plane
A plane carrying 161 passengers from Poland to Egypt has been forced to make an emergency landing in eastern Bulgaria because of a bomb scare.
The plane was evacuated, but no explosives have been found aboard after Bulgarian security forces conducted an extensive search, said Kristina Neykova, a spokeswoman for the Burgas airport.
A passenger who alerted crew about a possible bomb admitted on questioning to having consumed alcohol, a police spokeswoman said.
Polish Vice Consul Jakub Lasinski said on TVN24 he was assured by Bulgarian authorities that the situation is “under full control”. There were no reports of any explosives being found.
The Airbus A320-232, operated by charter firm Small Planet Airlines Poland, was en route to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada.
A plane was grounded in Bulgaria after a passenger told the crew there was a bomb aboard.
It was not immediately clear when the second plane will arrive, according to a spokesperson of Burgas Airport, Focus said.
