Bombs and ammunition found at San Bernardino shooting suspects’ home
The official said Farook and his wife weren’t on the FBI’s radar before the shooting, which killed 14.
“They were equipped and could have committed another shooting but we intercepted them before that”, said San Bernardino police Chief Jarrod Burguan.
Police said they found 12 pipe bomb devices at the California home being searched in connection with the mass shooting as well as hundreds of tools that could be used to make improvised explosive devices.
“He did leave the party early under some circumstances that was described as angry or something of that nature”, Chief Burguan said.
“It was unspeakable, the carnage we were seeing, and the fear and panic on people’s faces”, Madden said in a press conference.
At some point, CNN reports, Farook became radicalized and was “in touch with people being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for worldwide terrorism”.
Farook travelled to Saudi Arabia at least twice, in 2013 and 2014, acquaintances and Saudi officials told NBC News.
Police said there was no indication his job was in jeopardy. They reportedly said at the time that they were on their way to a doctor’s appointment. “Yes, she fired rounds”, said Birguan.
Six women and eight men were the victims of the mass shooting in California, US authorities said, releasing the names of all 14 of the dead.
Two police officers were injured during the pursuit. As of Thursday, two patients were listed in critical condition.
Authorities also noted that a hard drive and motherboard are missing from a computer found at the Redlands, California home the couple rented.
“The amount of armaments that he had, the weapons and ammunition, there was obviously a mission here”. But we don’t know. “It is possible this was terrorist-related…it is possible this was workplace-related”. Farook had no previous criminal record, said Burguan.
Farook was born in the U.S.to a Pakistani family and had been a San Bernardino County employee for five years, according to authorities. “I’m sure she got the visa in Pakistan”, State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner told reporters.
There have been 352 mass shootings in 2015 so far, or a couple of times a day this year, according to the website Mass Shooting Tracker.
According to authorities, the four weapons found on Farook and Mailk were legally purchased, with the two 9mm handguns bought by Farook himself.
One victim, Nicholas Thalasinos, was a Messianic Jew who had a public Facebook page he used to criticize Muslims and rant against jihadist terror.
A former co-worker said Farook was well-liked and “rarely discussed religion at work”.
The couple had dropped their 6-month-old baby off with her grandmother on Wednesday morning.
Farook co-worker Patrick Baccari said he sat at the same table as Farook at Wednesday’s office party, and Farook suddenly disappeared, leaving his coat on his chair. Baccari said he had stepped into the bathroom when the shooting started and suffered minor wounds from shrapnel slicing through the wall.
