Bon Iver to Premiere New Album at Eaux Claires Fest on Friday
Vernon designed Eaux Claires with Aaron Dessner of The National, another indie band known for rich, dark textures, amid a proliferation of music festivals across North America.
Signs have been popping up everywhere hinting at Bon Iver’s new album release, and now we finally have a definitive date.
Bon Iver have followed in the footsteps of many of their contemporaries by way of releasing cryptic visual information via social media and a mural found in Brooklyn, a la James Blake.
“The wind-up to new Bon Iver music began last month when the group uploaded a freaky 22-second video titled “#22days” with what sounded like a bit of new music and the lyrics “it might be over soon”. Many have guessed that an album titled 22 Days could be on the way, and now those rumours are being fuelled by a series of new murals that have appeared in Brooklyn.
In the lead up to this year’s Justin Vernon curated-Eaux Claires Festival, Bon Iver have revealed that there’s even more in store for fans than previous years.
As Pitchfork reports, the phrase “22 Days” has been repeatedly used by the band’s social media, including a video posted on their Twitter, which can be seen below.
Setting the festival in the woods, Vernon has vowed to give a unique aesthetic bent to Eaux Claires with the latest edition including literary readings, contemporary dance and selected artwork.
