Boras not yet thinking about his future as Rams’ play-caller

EARTH CITY, Mo. – The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers kick off Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

But the Rams nearly certainly won’t have the benefit of Gurley’s services this time around as he did not practice all week because of a foot injury.

“We’re thinking about the long-time future”, Fisher said.

In addition to NFC West foes Arizona, San Francisco, and Seattle, the Rams will play host to Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo, and Miami. “We’re prepared to go out there and have a good week of practice”.

Fisher was pleased with how his players and staff handled the situation, which forced most to be away from their families on New Year’s Eve. “We can only control what we can control and right now, this is what Coach (Jeff Fisher) has asked us to do and we’re doing it and having fun doing it. Whatever happens, happens”.

St. Louis wrapped up its final practice in Northern California after working out a deal with the Oakland Raiders to use their training camp facilities in the heart of wine country. A loss Sunday to the Rams (7-8) would give the 49ers their first 4-12 record since 2005 in Mike Nolan’s first season as coach.

KEENUM’S HURRAH?: Rams quarterback Case Keenum sure could use a memorable final outing of the year. His combined yards from scrimmage of 1,296 yards now accounts for 29.5 percent of the team’s total yards. Nick Foles was benched in favor of Keenum one week before Boras replaced Cignetti, and Keenum has played much more efficiently than his predecessor. 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert had two TD passes and no INTs last week for second time in 34 career starts….

“We haven’t won a lot of games, but I think we’ve played pretty clean football”, he said.

He’ll finish his rookie season with 229 carries for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns. “It’s just executing. That’s what we come out here to practice to do, is get better”. 500 with a win Sunday, they don’t believe it’s worth making the injury worse by playing him. I don’t see the formula for us changing a whole lot.

But he was released and signed by St. Louis the following year, beginning a odd odyssey that saw Keenum bounce back and forth between the Rams and Texans over a seven-month period.

But with Gurley not expected to play early in the season as he completed rehab from college knee surgery at Georgia, Mason would have a few games to remind everyone what he could do. He has just one 100-yard game in the last eight after reaching the mark in his first four starts this year.
