Bosh Facing Pressure To Sit Out Remainder Of Season
While preparing to play in the All-Star Game in Toronto, the blood clot issues related to a calf injury returned, forcing him on February 12 to pull out of playing in the game.
Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh is “under increasing pressure” from doctors and the team to sit out the rest of the season, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Bosh, who missed the final 30 games of last season after it was discovered that a blood clot in his calf had moved to his lungs, could be out for the remainder of this season as well.
Bosh is reportedly scheduled to meet with owner Mickey Arison and president Pat Riley within the next 24 hours to collectively reach a final decision regarding his status for the rest of the season. Doctors advised that he could also use blood thinners to make it safer to play, but thinners would be too risky if he would accidentally get wounded and bleed. This is the second time in as many seasons that Bosh’s season has been interrupted by a health scare.
The Yahoo! article, citing league sources, said the Heat are urging Bosh to take the rest of the season off. He signed a five-year deal for $118 million and became the centerpiece for them in many ways. He was hospitalized and was on blood thinners before being cleared for a return to the court.
The orgnanization will happily pivot and find a way to adjust for a life without Bosh if he does shut it down this season and even if it ends up stopping his career.
Chris Bosh could be shutting it down again. Bosh was averaging a team-high 19.1 points and leading the team in 3-point shooting at 36.5 percent, as well as grabbing 7.4 rebounds per game.
