Boston Among 10 Worst Cities for Pet Lovers
Wallethub.com ranked Cincinnati the No. 1 city in America for pet lovers.
Coming in at No. 16 on the list, Austin also ranked in the top five for most pet-friendly restaurants per capita.
Factors considered in the rankings included pet costs, pet-friendly businesses, establishments per capita and the number of dog parks, among other things. (Many of the metrics are dog-specific, perhaps since other pets are mostly kept indoors.).
They reviewed health care, budget, outdoor environments, and amusement to draw this conclusion.
On the site WalletHub, the city of Boston came in at No. 93 out of 100 cities, in between Chicago and Jacksonville, Florida. The worst three cities ranked as Santa Ana, California; New York, New York; and Newark, New Jersey. The website named St. Louis the second best overall city in the country for those who love their furry friends. Columbus (38) and Cleveland (47) rounded out Ohio cities’ placement in the rankings.
Veterinary care costs are two times higher in Seattle than in Milwaukee.
Boston was on the list for cities with the fewest veterinarians, while Orlando, Cincinnati and Richmond, Virginia have the most.
