Boston Chipotle where 136 sickened with norovirus reopens
Health inspectors ate at the Chipotle in Cleveland Circle where 136 patrons fell ill with norovirus.
According to the local government, on Wednesday, the restaurant has passed the health inspection and can now reopen its doors on Thursday.
“We are pleased to see that the Cleveland Circle Chipotle has taken the necessary steps to meet the health code standards put forth by the City of Boston to protect consumers”, Christopher said in a statement.
“The Chipotle food-borne illness case will now be studied by restaurant operators, financial pros and p.r. officials for years to come”, noted JP Morgan analyst John Ivankoe as stated by New York Post. “I wouldn’t say I’m a regular, but I may become one now”.
Dozens of customers, many of them Boston College students, were believed to have contracted norovirus at the Mexican fast-food restaurant.
A lot of students from Boston College reported sick earlier this month after eating from Chipotle. Chipotle founder Steve Ells took out a full-page advertisement in The Boston Globe to apologize for the norovirus outbreak. The norovirus outbreak at the Cleveland Circle location is unrelated to the E. coli outbreak. Company spokesman Chris Arnold said the restaurant opened Saturday. After further investigation, it was also found out that a sick employee had also reported to work in the restaurant. On Sunday, reporters interviewed several patrons leaving the reopened restaurant.
Commenting on the new bill issued by the city health officials, an ER doctor at the nearby Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Nikhil Shankar said that the issuing of the new bill was enough to make him feel comfortable eating at the Mexican outlet again.
