Boston officials seek advice on legal pot issues

Medical cannabis had a big night, too. Basically, the laws are a mess. According to the new legislation, customers who come in with legal weed will be able to consume it through vaping or edibles.

Now, we’re looking at a similar deal with recreational weed.

As states weigh whether to legalize marijuana, one of the most contentious issues is whether legalization increases adolescent use.

Days before the election, the city of Palo Alto voted to ban the outdoor growth of marijuana.

Denver stands on another first in America’s history. “We do not allow the presence of dispensaries physically within the city”. California, Massachusetts and Nevada also joined that club by legalizing recreational marijuana use last week. Additionally, the group warns of the dangers of allowing people to mix marijuana and alcohol, which is pretty fair considering that marijuana-related hospital visits for Colorado tourists are up since legalization.

“Sonoma, Shasta, Santa Cruz, San Jose – they’re all backtracking respective to Proposition 64”, Crowder said. Marijuana plants can be grown in Palo Alto inside a greenhouse if it’s locked and enclosed.

“It’s time to get to know your city council rep and your neighborhood organization”, O’Bryan said.

The new measure allows any private business – except a dispensary – to ask for a consumption permit.

Cannabis council spokesperson Elizabeth Davis said the organization now comprises about 25 businesses and farmers involved with the cannabis industry in Santa Barbara County.

The newly expanded departments will include regulations and control of the non-medical marijuana industry. “They’ve received a lot of mixed messages on what is legal under the law and what is not”. A county-appointed work group will present its findings on the impact of both new medical marijuana regulations and legalized recreational cannabis to the Board of Supervisors in December, after postponing the meeting in November. During this year’s general election, California joined Nevada, Massachusetts, and ME in legalizing recreational pot.

But anyone anxious about that possibility can always stay away from businesses that allow marijuana vaping.

“It’s going to be huge”, said Mitchem, who pointed out that Colorado’s pot industry is worth $1 billion a year but the state has only about a tenth of California’s population.

“They’ve always welcomed a broad array of experts to the table when they address these issues”, she says, “and I assume that won’t change as we go forward”. Tvert is hopeful that the city will start to roll out permits in the beginning of next year, but no there is no official date yet. After that, city officials can decide whether or not to let the pilot program continue.
