Bound flight sent back to Toronto; passenger arrested
Air Canada says the flight – AC1312 – was carrying 199 passengers from Calgary to Toronto on a late flight when a customer became disruptive.
On Wednesday, an Alberta man was arrested and charged after a flight attendant was assaulted, forcing an Air Canada flight bound for New Delhi to return to Toronto.
According to officers, a man has been taken into custody after his plane landed at Pearson Airport.
The flight attendant was treated for injuries, but police and Air Canada officials have not said what the injuries were.
Peel police are arresting another man involved in a separate recent disturbance on a plane.
Peel Regional Police said a man had allegedly assaulted the flight attendant around 12:42 a.m. when the flight was over the Atlantic Ocean, just off the East Coast.
Ahmed Kochi Hissein-Warimi of Calgary is charged with one count each of mischief and endangering the safety of an aircraft, and six counts of breach of probation.
He has a bail hearing at a Brampton courthouse on Wednesday.
The aircraft’s diversion back to Toronto marked the second delay for passengers on the flight.
The flight is now scheduled to leave Pearson International Airport at noon EST.
