Bournemouth sign Tomlin from Middlesbrough
Bournemouth have completed the signing of 26-year-old forward Lee Tomlin on a three-year deal from Middlesbrough. When the opportunity arose to join, he jumped at the chance.
James played under Howe as he made 19 League One appearances for Bournemouth in the 2012-13 season, and the former England stopper has said that he saw enough from the Cherries boss to convince him that they will not be battling relegation. The feel good factor of their transfer activity could help them get off to the ideal start. I think the team’s style of play will definitely suit me. “He went to Burnley and they didn’t do as well league wise as I thought they would”.
Six years ago Bournemouth were facing administration and in danger of dropping out of the Football League altogether, only to recover and win promotion as Sky Bet Championship winners.
“Lee is a player who we are excited about and will get fans off their seats”, said Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake.
Tomlin tweeted: “And for everyone thinking I walked out or wanted to leave is not true I was told I was not wanted and could leave”.
“He is someone we have followed for some time and believe will fit seamlessly into Eddie and Jason’s plans”.
Marc Pugh insists Bournemouth must approach their debut Barclays Premier League season with a fearless intent to play the passing football that drove their ascent into the top flight. Eddie uses every minute to make his players better, hence the there are seven or eight players who were in League One who are now in the Premier League.
“Like the club, he has had to work hard to get to this point and is eager to make the most of this opportunity”.
