Box Office Collection: Dilwale takes thick lead against Bajirao Mastani
Bajirao Mastani made a good growth at the box office by churning in 15 crores at the box office on the 2nd day.
On the other hand, Bajirao Mastani which has Ranveer Singh and two worth actresses Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra was able to mint 12.80cr on its first day of its release. In his review for NDTV, Saibal Chatterjee writes, “There isn’t a tiresome moment in this colourful and dramatic film that embraces excess with unabashed abandon”.
Taran Adarsh posted that both this Friday’s releases, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Dilwale” are liked by moviegoers.
“Dilwale” box office collections: The film has secured the No 2 spot in New Zealand box office charts and in Australia, “Dilwale” has not only become the biggest opener of 2015, but also the biggest ever for a Shah Rukh Khan movie.
The filmmakers expected that the first day collections of Bajirao Mastani would be around Rs.20-25 crores. “We are expecting aggressive opening for both the films”, he was quoted as saying in online media.
“It all depends on the weekend”.
“‘Dilwale” has opened better.
It may be recalled that around 10 days ago, descendants of the Peshwa and Chhatrasal dynasty – to which Mastani belonged – held protests against promotional videos and songs of the movie. “Bajirao Mastani’ is slightly slow and is within the range of ordinary to good”. Also, SRK’s Dilwale got an average response, which may prove as an advantage for Bhansali’s film.
“Dilwale” box office collections: In Malaysia, “Dilwale” has registered the biggest ever opening for any Hindi film.
Manoj Desai, exhibitor and owner of G7 Cinemas here, said both the films are doing well in his properties despite their different genres. “While “Dilwale” is for masses, “Bajirao Mastani” is for the class audience and ultimately it’s the content that will steal the show”. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are returning together to silver screens after the blockbuster hit movie Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. “I haven’t seen so much appreciation for a film till now”.
