Boxer Tyson Fury Stripped Of Title, Investigated By Police
According to the SJA, the decision came in wake of the threats made by Fury against a sports journalist after the latter had reported about boxer’s comments on homosexuality and women.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they are investigating hate crime allegations against the boxer.
Fury said heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill “slaps up good” and “looks quite fit” in a dress.
“Let’s not try and make me out to be some evil person and I hate gays”, said Tyson.
World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury struck trouble on two fronts Tuesday, with a police investigation launched into his comments about homosexuality, and reports that he had been stripped of one of his belts for not facing the mandatory challenger.
Tyson Fury is uniting the world, uniting Christians and Muslims in a time when everything’s up in the air?
Mr Fury hit back after one of the other sportsmen to be shortlisted for the Sports Personality of the Year, Greg Rutherford, revealed he had threatened to pull out of the awards in response to the comments, but made a decision to stay on after an appeal from the BBC.
Fury, who has an Irish traveler heritage and labels himself “The Gypsy King” on social media, is at the center of a controversy over the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) award.
The promoter told BBC Breakfast that Fury’s achievement in the ring was “fantastic” but his comments outside it “leave a lot to be desired”.
In an interview with a Sunday newspaper before the fight, he claimed: “There are only three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home”.
Fury took to Twitter on Wednesday, publishing a picture of him celebrating victory over Klitschko that carried the message: “Take my belts, sign your petitions, but you will never take this night from me”. I’ve (had people) being racist towards me for the past 27 years.
Rutherford said in a statement: “I have been in discussions with the BBC regarding my involvement with SPOTY after hearing what I believe to be very out-dated and derogatory comments from a fellow SPOTY nominee”.
“I’m not actually for removing him, I’m simply for people of good conscience not voting for him”.
He refused to fight its challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov, instead agreeing to a rematch against Klitschko.
Fury, whose father was born in Galway, has represented both Ireland and England as an amateur and won the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles by beating Ukranian, Wladimir Klitchsko.
