Boy, 10, Killed In Suspected Human Sacrifice
He tempted the boy together with the aid of neighbors to a location that was isolated by presenting toast and encouraging to pay for fifty U.S. pennies to him.
“The newspaper Kathmandu Post reported that early last week, the father of a sick teenager confessed to the killing of the 10-year-old in order to “to chase away the evil spirits” from his ailing son, after he sought advice from a village shaman”.
Superintendent of Police, Nal Prasad Upadhyaya, told Reuters that five people have been arrested in connection with the case and will all be charged with murder.
The boy was taken to a temple on the outskirts of the village where they performed a religious ritual. He thus practised a spiritual ceremony, slitting the child’s nose and directing his entire body in a shrub. The boy’s head was nearly severed from his body completely when police found him, according to CNN.
Police have arrested 11 villagers on charges of murdering a 10-year-old boy in southwestern Nepal, in what villagers described as a case of human sacrifice.
“But we can not confirm anything until our investigations are completed”, he said.
The village, in the Nawalparasi district bordering India, is home to some of the country’s poorest and uneducated people – often known as “untouchables” in the traditional caste system. Both the victim and the suspects reportedly belong to this social stratum.
More than 80 percent of Nepal’s 28 million people are Hindus. Many frequently sacrifice animals like goats, buffaloes and hens to please the gods.
