Boy dies after being left in SUV
It wasn’t until several hours later – after the mother learned her youngest never made it to day care – that the grandmother discovered him in the auto, around 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately, by that time he had passed away.
Yakopovich said investigators don’t believe the baby was not harmed intentionally.
The child was in the SUV’s third row.
After the children were taken to the day care, the father drove the maroon Buick Rendezvous back to the family’s home in Garfield Heights and parked it in a shaded driveway. The police responded at 5:34 p.m.to an emergency call.
The child’s body is now in custody of the Summit County Medical Examiner. After getting a phone call saying the child did not come home from daycare that afternoon, the grandmother went to the vehicle and discovered the child.
A portion of the parking lot was closed Wednesday night while police searched the vehicle at the scene.
An 8-month-old boy died Wednesday after being left in a vehicle outside an Ohio Walmart.
A few hours later, police towed the vehicle and re-opened the parking lot. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
It’s too early in the investigation for police to determine if the 8-month-old found dead in the Walmart parking lot will result in charges against the person responsible for forgetting the boy.
“It is quite risky for children and infants as they don’t have as great of an ability to regulate their temperature”, said Dr. Richard Saladino, chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
