Boy murdered as human sacrifice ritual, accused thrashed
Angry villagers in Andhra Pradesh state’s Prakasam district tied the 35-year-old suspect to a tree and set him on fire after the gruesome murder on Wednesday, the Times of India reported.
The child was abducted while playing, allegedly by a man, who beheaded him and threw the blood around his house.
The boy, named locally as L. Manusagar, was taken in the Prakasam district, according to New Indian Express.
Police, quoting locals, said Rao, a resident of the same village, killed the boy as part of a witchcraft-related ritual. The incident took place at the South Carolina colony of Pokuru village in Andhra Pradesh.
The man survived with burns and was taken to hospital under police guard. After that he performed a few pujas and cut the boy’s head. The accused is believed to have filled the blood in a bottle and offered it to deities. When she came to know about Rao taking her child, she went to his home. The couple chanced upon Rao’s brother, Venkata Rao, at the village centre.
They broke the lock and found the boy’s body in the house. As the news spread, villagers gathered and launched a hunt for Rao, who was caught on the outskirts of the village.
Following the grisly find, the enrage villagers doused the accused in kerosene and set him alight. Hearing her cries, other villagers rushed to the spot and were shocked over finding the body parts of they. Though the police has registered the case against the accuse and are looking into the details but the question remains unanswered that how many humans will be sacrificed further in the name of rituals? “We found a rope from the residence which the accused might have used to strangle the boy”, said a police officer.
