Bradford expects to play Sunday for Eagles
Head coach Chip Kelly spoke with reporters Monday and acknowledged concerns going forward, but if Bradford was healthy he would get the nod for Sunday. “The thing that we’ll see is is there residual effects of him throwing the ball, where the soreness level is and things like that”.
Bradford (shoulder) expects to take the field Sunday at New England, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. “From going through his progressions, to getting more comfortable with what we’re doing”. He added that it’s, “starting to feel good”.
Bradford, who played well in the games before being injured, hopes to pick up where he left off. When he was a rookie in 2010, the St. Louis Rams went into the last game of the season with a chance to win the NFC West title.
“I think so”, he said.
“The Eagles are a team that has two legitimate starting quarterbacks and both of those guys have had a lot of production over their careers, have won a lot of games, have been in a lot of big games”, he said. “I think having to sit there the past couple weeks and watch us struggle has been tough”. Yet Bradford also pointed out that the goal at the beginning of the season is to make the postseason, and that goal remains within reach. “Every game from here on out is critical, and I think we’re all aware of that”. You’ve gotta try to hang on to the positives and know we can still get this thing turned around. Similar to the NFC East this year, the NFC West in 2010 was the worst division in the NFL.
The Eagles are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, but help could be on the way.
“I do”, Bradford said when asked if he would play, “but it’s not up to me”.
But there is still not a commitment from either side after this season, and the next five games must answer what the first three months did not about Bradford’s future. Bradford said that was the toughest part about sitting out.
