Brady, Mariota Represent Largest Age Gap Between Playoffs QBs
The Titans are two touchdown underdogs heading into Saturday night’s Divisional round matchup against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium and finished the regular season with an unspectacular 9-7 record. They are going to face off against the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, and it will not be an easy win by any stretch of the imagination. “They’ve basically won two playoff games – one to get into the playoffs and a playoff game last week”.
They aren’t the best running team in the league, but they aren’t bad at it either (tenth; 118.1 yards/game).
The Patriots should be able to pick apart the Titans’ secondary if they take the time and precision to do it, but they will have to be careful in their approach. They won a close one in the wild-card round on the road, in Baltimore (20-17, on a field goal with 29 seconds left), led by a tough, dual-threat quarterback (Steve McNair), with Jeff Triplette officiating.
The Titans actually ranked 4th in rushing yards allowed, with just 88.8 per game. “I’m not a social media guy. It says to me that they have a great deal of mental toughness”, Slater said.
The Titans will put up a fight, but there is no way they win this one unless Tom Brady gets hurt.
In the meantime, the Tennessee Titans are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2008 when Kerry Collins was their quarterback.
“He actually knows when to run and when to pass the ball when scrambling”, Patriots safety Duron Harmon said Wednesday. The Chiefs’ weakness just so happens to be the Patriots’ weakness: Run defense.
With the win over the Chiefs, Mularkey now has a victory in his first post-season game.
Coming into the game, the Patriots are getting healthy, and they are almost two-touchdown favorites in most sportsbooks.
Mariota, 24, spoke highly of Brady earlier this week.
For the Titans, running back DeMarco Murray has been officially ruled out by Tennessee head coach Mike Mularkey.
Gronkowski was asked if Brady is amped up even more than usual.
Titans defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said the key is “not letting (Brady) read you like a book, which he is very adept at”. In terms of the Vegas line, that’s also the biggest upset suffered by the Patriots in a playoff game in the Belichick era. So I don’t really care if it was Joe Montana.
If you don’t want to sign up for Sky, you can watch the playoffs on NowTV with their Sky Sports pass starting from £6.99. I’m trying to go out there and win the game. “I can still get a little better, but it feels good to be out there”. Opponents always have to be prepared for the up-tempo, no-huddle attack, which has the potential to be lethal with quarterback Tom Brady. “I’m not really looking at it like that”. As the Titans load up to stop the run and try to blitz Brady, look for the Patriots to counter by spreading the field with three and four receivers so he can find a quick-strike against favorable single coverage.
