Brady pops in at Patriots function
New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker (83) is congratulated by Tom Brady after catching a one-yard touchdown pass during the first half of the NFL football AFC Championship football game against the Baltimore Ravens in Foxborough, Mass., Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.
There are a lot of them. “We had two”, Belichick said of the lifelong Pats. Kevin didn’t have a lot of touchdowns. He was big on third-down conversions and a returner, more of a situational player.
Brady returned the favor Monday when Faulk was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you”. “More of a situational player”.
“I’m sure this rule was put in place by the league, the competition committee, to minimize kickoffs and to encourage touchbacks where the ball will come out to the 25-yard line”, Belichick told Sirius XM NFL Radio’s “Movin’ the Chains” show. There is some debate, though, as to whether or not things will actually play out that way.
Faulk became emotional at times as he thanked everyone who made his career in New England a success, from the Kraft family, to Bill Belichick and his coaching staff to the hundreds of teammates he went to battle with. “They weren’t little plays, they were big plays”. “When you were standing two feet from him and you knew he had your back on every play, you knew what was really going on”. And we knew he was a high-round draft pick, but that’s the kind of stuff that’ll get you cut.
You know it’s nearly time for football when Foxborough residents head to Gillette Stadium for practice. It wasn’t just the games.
“Faster, more elusive, better hands”, he said. In the Boo.’ I’m like, ‘OK, this is how we get down – at Parente’s.’ So we had drinks coming, and just Kevin and Damien, they’re getting real loud. I feel blessed. Certainly, they were great additions to the team. “It was Kevin’s time”.
But still, there are certain things about Belichick and his decision-making that remain fascinating, in large part because he keeps so much of the process close to the vest.
At that point, Brady said, “No, this is for Kevin!”
