Brady rematch for AFC Title
Manning was a different player against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers’ leading receiver was Martavis Bryant with 154 receiving yards. Anderson had 72 yards on 15 carries.
The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos meet Sunday in the AFC Championship at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Manning only directed one touchdown drive against the Steelers, but that was all the Broncos needed. Three resulted in first downs. Another throw drew a defensive pass interference penalty.
Both wins came against the Steelers, offering further proof of their domination of Pittsburgh.
But Roethlisberger called the injury “painful” through the week and on game day, with team doctors monitoring the injury between each offensive series. “There are still some things that I have to work on”.
“A couple of those were the wind, but as a receiver we should have still made those plays”, Thomas said.
To guard against the possibility that Harris will be worse instead of better, they’ve added cornerback Taurean Nixon from the practice squad.
At 38 years old, Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League (4,770 passing yards this season, 36 TDs). A 12-point win at Detroit in September was a five-point game until Owen Daniels’ TD with 2:28 left.
The Steelers weren’t surprised by Coates’ two big gainers. “There’s only four teams standing”, Brady said. This is not all on them by any means, it’s on all of us.
Without Brown, Pittsburgh had a 136-catch, 1,834-receiving-yards hole in its offense against the Broncos.
Minutes into the Pats-Kansas City game, I knew my prediction of a Chiefs win was garbage. “We didn’t really talk about it once the game got started”. “They are just things that we have to work on and grow from this game”. Anderson’s one yard touchdown plunge with three minutes remaining in the game put the Broncos ahead for good.
Former Ravens coach Brian Billick also said Saturday that, while Roethlisberger should be credited as the toughest quarterback in the National Football League, he can be a bit of “a drama queen” when it comes to his injuries.
“From what I’ve been told by Doc (James) Bradley, no surgery”, Roethlisberger said on his weekly segment on 93.7 The Fan this morning.
“Down in the fourth quarter, (we got a) great play by our defence”. A lot of teams just kind of quit, and we didn’t.
“It’s pretty hard to get to this point. But Wade (goes all out) all the time and makes us stand up, and we do it. The difference between this year and past years is Wade”.
While the defense played well all night, they caved in the fourth quarter when they needed a stop.
