Brady returns to Patriots practice after missing 2 days
The Patriots reported that Brady was a limited participant in Friday’s practice and are listing him as questionable for Sunday’s game.
Later Friday, the signal-caller was officially listed as questionable. Tom Brady is now playing what some consider to the best football of his hall of fame career.
“We’ll see”, Brady said after practice at his weekly press briefing. “Everyone plays with bumps and bruises this time of year”. Everyone’s dealing with something. There’s no trash talk, no fun storyline. just the Jets and Patriots playing football on the final weekend of November.
Darrelle Revis has played against Tom Brady for years, and won a Super Bowl ring during the one season he played with him. He returned to practice Wednesday and made it through the practice week without any setbacks. The Patriots and Bill Belichick have a long history of being hush-hush regarding injuries, so not much is being said naturally. One of my favorite teammates that I’ve played with.
“He’s done a great job and he’s been out there every week to compete”, Brady said. Martellus is a really good player. Wilkerson and Richardson are going to have to find a way get back to their old, quarterback-sacking ways. But when you look at film and watch the one-on-one matchup, did you win? “I love winning games”.
“What I think Dez was saying was ‘I did that.’ There were a bunch of times he ran some attractive routes and Josh Norman wasn’t anywhere around”.
JETS ‘ defense, supposedly head coach Todd Bowles’ bread and butter, has been just so-so, with D-line not performing up to lofty expectations, and the secondary having trouble shutting anybody down. In six and a half years as an National Football League head coach – not including the 90 seconds he spent as HC of the NYJ – his record was an unsightly 47-60, and he’d enjoyed only one winning season to that point. “You’re not going to make the next step”. You need a lot of help from a lot of people. They have outscored opponents 87-26 in first quarters, with that plus-61 margin the second-largest in the league for any quarter. I just don’t get it. Rushing Gronk back from an injury to his lungs could easily cause him to miss even more time by re-aggravating the injury. The Patriots look again to be a clear favorite as they are now tied for first place in the AFC with the Oakland Raiders.
But first, as the Patriots prepare for tomorrow’s trip to MetLife Stadium to face the rival Jets, Brady might not give much thought to his two MVP awards or a bottomless array of passing records, but the wins reflect his team-first mantra and define the marquee position in the sport.
CBs Marcus Williams and Nick Marshall are out.
