Brandon LaFell says Patriots wanted him to be completely healed before playing
LaFell relayed that he thought it responded well, and when asked about his availability Sunday against the Jets, he said it would be up to head coach Bill Belichick.
“I knew I wasn’t going to be ready for Week 1”, LaFell said.
To say LaFell’s first season with the Patriots was a success would be an understatement. “The only thing I’ve been doing for the last couple months is rehabbing and lifting weights”.
LaFell has missed the start of the season with a foot injury.
“It will take a little while to get used to, but I ain’t mad I ain’t have no camp, man”, LaFell said.
On Friday, the 6-foot-3 receiver said, “I’m exhausted of lifting weights, I’m exhausted of rehabbing, and I’m ready to get back playing football”. LaFell probably could have came back come a few weeks ago, but the team felt like getting him back to 100% was more important, and the offense could function without him for a few extra weeks. “If I could have started the season, that would have been a big plus”. “I’ve been running full speed, opening up”.
Other than missing “three or four games” his freshman year at LSU with broken ribs, LaFell has never had to deal with being away from the game for so long. If LaFell does play, he knows that facing former teammate Darrelle Revis and the Jets secondary won’t provide the warmest of welcomes.
