Brandon Weeden to start for Texans as team seaks AFC South crown
Brandon Weeden will be starting for his second different National Football League team this season when he leads the Houston Texans against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Hoyer suffered his concussion on December 13 and, while he has returned to practice on a limited basis, he has not yet been cleared to play. Weeden made his debut with the Texans in Indianapolis on Sunday after T.J.
Brandon Weeden would start if Hoyer can’t play.
The Texans have a strong enough defense and enough playmakers on offense to sustain success while Hoyer gets fully healthy for either Week 17 against Jacksonville or the home game in the AFC Wild Card Round against any number of contending teams.
With Weeden set to start, Houston signed B.J. Daniels off Seattle’s practice squad to serve as backup.
“I know it’s kind of out of my hands at this point”, Hoyer said. I talk to people I trust who’ve gone through the situation and you make the best-educated decision.
Hoyer is “feeling good”, per a source, and is still awaiting final clearance. Obviously, there’s a lot of frustration. “You want to be out there playing”. Weeden completed 11 of 18 passes for 105 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions against the Colts in Week 15.
