Branford Teen Killed in Pennsylvania Crash
The crash is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m.at milepost 318 between state Route 29 and the Downingtown Exit, according to PennDOT.
The other six students, Victoria Barrett from Pennsylvania, Sarah Bixby from New Jersey, Claire Fountas from Illinois, Matthew Hrynkow from Virginia, Brooke Kalodner from New Jersey and Max Titlebaum from Pennsylvania, were transported to Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Pa., according to the posting.
19-year old Vitalya Sepot, of Branford, Connecticut died after being thrown from a auto that was traveling west near the Valley Forge interchange in Chester County.
She was majoring in graphic design and was part of a group of students from the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Selected college students spread out across Lower Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Limerick and Royersford during the weekend (Friday through Sunday, September 25-27, 2015) with well-labeled collection cans, seeking donations from motorists and shoppers in a launch of the 2016 Penn State THON fund-raiser to fight childhood cancers.
The vice president for Student Affairs, Damon Sims, put out this statement, “The Penn State community and all who know the good work done through student involvement in THON are deeply saddened by this tragedy”. Several weekends a year are designated as “canning” weekends, where students solicit donations across Pennsylvania.
‘No words can express our sorrow when learning of this accident and of Tally’s passing. “This is a hard time for many”.
The university is offering on-campus counseling for any students or faculty impacted by the crash.
