Braves lose veteran Young in trade with Mets
Young played for the Mets in both 2013 and 2014, hitting.229/.299/.311 in 100 games for New York last season while stealing 30 bases.
The Mets are pretty light on speed, so there’s a chance that Young could serve as a bench player and pinch-runner when rosters expand in September.
According to the Mets’ official Twitter account, they will send cash considerations to the Braves in exchange for Young, who will subsequently report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Atlanta Braves agreed to a deal sending Eric Young Jr.to the division rival New York Mets. 242 with 68 stolen bases in 191 games. 169 (13-for-77) over 35 games prior to being designated for assignment. With the Mets previously, Young Jr. showcased his very good range in the outfield and versatility at playing different outfield positions. Never much of a hitter, he did lead the National League in stolen bases in 2013. 251 with New York and hasn’t hit better than that since.
This will be Young’s second stint with the organization (2013-14).
