Bravo recalls dog and cat food for salmonella contamination: Food and Drug
A similar recall by Bravo last year affected the company’s Raw Food Diet and Bravo Blends products.
Pet food company Nature’s Variety is voluntarily recalling its Instinct Raw Chicken Formula. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was issued after they conducted a routine sample test and determined that the products contained Salmonella bacteria. These products were distributed through retail stores in the U.S. and limited distribution in Canada.
Symptoms in animals may include fever, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite and an abnormally fast heart rate. Contact a veterinarian if your pet has symptoms after consuming the recalled product. No other Nature’s Variety products are affected.
The recalled products are Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs in 4 pound packages with UPC number 769949611431 and best by 4/27/16; Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs in 7 pound packages with UPC number 769949611448 and best by 4/27/16; and Instinct Rw Chicken Formula Patties for Dogs in 6 pound packages with best by 4/27/16.
Consumers feeding the affected product to their pets are urged to discontinue use and monitor their pet’s health. Consumers who have purchased one of the above products can obtain a full refund or exchange by either returning the product in its original packaging or bringing a proof of purchase back to their retailer. The company has requested that consumers with additional questions call Consumer Relations at 888-519-7387.
